HEATHROW Airport authorities have impounded a DAS Air cargo plane DC10 after finding a dead body of a man believed to have been a stowaway in one of the plane's wheel wells.

The plane left Entebbe on Saturday evening with a stop over at Cairo and Ostend in Belgium before its last destination at Heathrow.Sources from Heathrow Airport told The New Vision that as the engineers at Heathrow were preparing the plane for a return journey, they found a squashed body of a black young man in one of the wheel wells that had started smelling.Investigations are now underway while the plane is delayed at Heathrow airport. The Coroner has been called to investigate the cause of the death. The Health and Safety people and the police are also investigating how the death happened and the nationality of the dead man.The DAS Air Technical Director, Ephraim Bagenda, declined to make any comment. He told The New Vision on phone that he was still waiting for a report from his ground engineers and the initial investigation to get completed.The plane was supposed to leave Heathrow at 07.00 (GMT) yesterday but was delayed in order for investigations to be carried out.
