Musinguzi Gives Lawyers Cows

The sole rival to defence state minister in the Kinkizi West parliamentary elections, James Musinguzi, on Friday offered a cow to each of his lawyers, reports Kennedy Oryema.Musinguzi made the offer during an impromptu party organised for him at the Fairway Hotel in Kampala, following the nullification of Amama Mbabazi’s election by the High Court.The court ordered a by-election but Mbabazi’s lawyers and the Electoral Commission said they would file an appeal.Musinguzi was represented by a legal team comprising Peter Walubiri, Muhammad Mbabazi, Benon Tusasirwe, Mutale and Ngaruye. On Mbabazi’s team were Wandera Ogalo and Dr. Joseph Byamugisha.Musinguzi said the cows would be delivered wherever the owners wanted.He also donated a cow to former Rukungiri Woman MP Winnie Babihuga, Rukiga county MP Jack Sabiiti and Christopher Kamara.“Don’t give up the struggle. We will go back to Kinkizi or we will take him to court,” Musinguzi said.The party was attended by several members of the Reform Agenda, including Babihuga Betti Kamya and supporters who partied until the wee hours of Saturday morning.The Reform Agenda was a loose grouping that supported Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye’s 2001 presidential campaign against President Yoweri Museveni.
