Police Arrest Kamuli Healer

By Esther Mukyala THE Police in Kamuli district have arrested a traditional healer for the alleged defilement of a girl.Jowali Waiswa, of Kirangira village in Balawoli sub-county, allegedly told the girl (names withheld), a P.5 pupil of Nawangaiza primary school, that he had charms that would make her clever.It was alleged that the two made plans and arranged the day on which to pick the herbs. But as the girl went to collect the herbs, Waiswa defiled her. the girl later discovered that she was pregnant. Waiswa reportedly disappeared with the girl in Bugerere but the Police at Kamuli got wind of their whereabouts and he was arrested. The girl was taken back to her parents.The deputy OC/CID, Shafani Osire, said Waiswa would be charged and urged traditional healers to desist from such practices.Ends
