POLICE fire experts and government chemists are in Kabale district to step up investigations into the cause of the fire that last week gutted the Kabale Medical Office block, reports Darious Magara.

POLICE fire experts and government chemists are in Kabale district to step up investigations into the cause of the fire that last week gutted the Kabale Medical Office block, reports Darious Magara.The officers visited the scene of fire in the company of the area deputy OC/CID Gumisiriza Karinkiza, on Monday. Property worth sh1b was destroyed when a fire gutted the building last Tuesday at 9:30pm. Drugs, medical equipment, computers, bicycles and motorcycles were burnt to ashes. The District Police Commander, Martin Amoru, said the Police last week locked up the district administration police officer, Christopher Singa, who absconded from duty. “Singa is to be produced in court when investigations are fully done. We have got several leads that we are following, and the cause of the fire must be found,” Amoru said.The district chairman, Adison Kakuru, together with residents put out the fire and stopped it from crossing to other blocks at the district headquarters on Makanga hill.
