The Prime minister’s office has given 280 bags of maize grain for the resettlement of the Karimojong in Nakapiriprit district, reports Nathan Etengu. The 100kg bags of maize were delivered recently and have since been used to resettle 420 households at Namorotot, Kakomongole, Lemsui and Chosan. Others have also been resettled at Loporokocho parish, Kariita sub-county, near the Uganda-Kenya border. The assistant chief administrative officer, Abdullaziz Abong, said the state minister for disaster preparedness, Christine Aporu, had promised the food aid to the people of Nakapiripirit. “She made the promise on April 30 when she handed-over ox-ploughs given under the on-going disarmament programme,” Abong said. He said the food was distributed by the district disaster management committee.
