HIGHWAY robbers recently ambushed American priests travelling from Mbale to Kapchorwa where they were expected to start development projects.

By Rashid MuzungyoHIGHWAY robbers recently ambushed American priests travelling from Mbale to Kapchorwa where they were expected to start development projects.The District Police Commander Kapchorwa, Tomson Ogole, said the incident took place 22 miles along the Sironko-Kapchorwa highway near the Kaserem sub-county headquarters.Ogole said the priests were due to open a private health centre and a church at Kawowo sub-county headquarters, constructed with funds from the American Presbyterian Church.Ogole said the robbers, who were armed with AK-47 rifles, stole five cameras, six watches, CD players and sh5.2m from the priests.He said the robbers put the priests at gunpoint before looting the cash and equipment.
