THE Police in Kampala on Tuesday afternoon shot and killed two thugs after a fierce gun battle that sent residents scampering for cover at Stella zone, Najjanankumbi on the Kampala-Entebbe highway.

By Vision Reporter THE Police in Kampala on Tuesday afternoon shot and killed two thugs after a fierce gun battle that sent residents scampering for cover at Stella zone, Najjanankumbi on the Kampala-Entebbe highway.One of the thugs was identified by the Police as Adam Kabuye, who is suspected to have terrorised parts of the city and caused misery to residents. He had reportedly been detained several times for crime.The Police also recovered two guns, a saloon car believed to have been robbed and motorcycle from the scene.Ten other thugs were netted in a subsequent operation after the fire exchange which the police said was started by the thugs who had taken refuge at Banajje Guest House whose compound also acts as a night car park. the police said the other 10 suspects would help them to investigate criminal activity in Kampala and to name other gangsters.the suspects reportedly opened fire at the policemen, prompting them to also shoot back. The thugs were subdued and captured before they were ordered to take the police to their hideouts on Busabala road.The two were killed in the fire exchange. the other 10 suspects were netted at their hideout.Meanwhile, in Busia, the Police netted three men with a gun. They were identified as Mohamed Musigulu, Ayub Kakumbo and Ali Nazir. Police spokesman Asuman Mugenyi said they are suspected to have been terrorising Busia and Tororo districts.Ends
