Nakapiripirit LC5 chairman John Lorot and the Resident District Commissioner, Churchill Lokoroi, recently met the district commissioner of West pokot in Kenya, in an effort to restore peace among the Pokot of kenya and the Karimojong of Uganda.

Nasur Wambedde reports that the pokot had intensified raids on the karimojong after the government of Uganda disarmed them.
Lorot told the New Vision that during a meeting in West pokot on August 14, the leaders agreed to deploy a security force along the border to prevent the pokot from crossing to Uganda.
Lokoroi said they also agreed that there would be free movement along the boarder although the Pokot would not be allowed to cross to Uganda with guns.
“We have got assurance that the Kenya Reserve Force will also be deployed along the border to prevent armed pokot from crossing to Uganda” Lokoroi said. Ends
