THE Lions Club of Arua recently received its charter symbolising official recognition and legality, reports Dawin Dawa.
The governor of District 411, Lion Rejinder Sembi Pape handed over the charter in Arua town.
The club is an international humanitarian organisation.
The chartering of the club was preceded by a procession by the Lions and Lionesses through Arua town to West Nile Golf Club followed by a get-together at the executive inn for what is known as Charter Night.
Pape, whose dominion extends over Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia urged the people of Arua to join Lion’s Club, which has 1.4 million people worldwide.
The club focuses on helping the needy, with emphasis on the blind.
Pape was pleased with the increased Lion’s Club membership in Arua. The club has 21 paid up members. Ends
