DELAYED residential training has hampered the national women’s soccer team — The She Kobs — preparing for their encounter against Ethiopia in the third Africa Women championship qualifier.
The team, slated to depart for Ethiopia on September 18, was meant to start residential training on Monday but the programme was changed after FUFA failed to secure the traditional Lugogo Hostel for the girls due to late booking. Alfred Mawa will be the head of delegation.
Coach Sam Timbe, who is in charge of the team, yesterday said that the girls were finding it difficult to arrive in time hence hindering his plans.
“The girls are arriving late and we can not do all that we have in the short time,†said Timbe, who is holding two training sessions with the team.
FUFA assistant treasurer, Ahmed Wadrif said that they had at last managed to secure for them a place at Kyambogo University.
“We are taking them in camp today (yesterday) afternoon. We hope that they will now put up a great performance,†he said.
Olive Mbekeka, Rebecca Nakate (pictured left) and Fatuma Luwedda are among the 22 who trained yesterday.
