KAPCHORWA district leaders have said they know the people who plotted the murder of the district chief administrative officer (CAO), James Onyait, last Saturday.

KAPCHORWA district leaders have said they know the people who plotted the murder of the district chief administrative officer (CAO), James Onyait, last Saturday.
First to stun mourners during Onyait’s burial in Agule, Pallisa district on Tuesday was MP for Tingey in Kapchorwa Dr. Stephen Chebrot who said two groups were involved: the planners of Onyait’s death and those who did the actual killing.
He said four people waylaid Onyait, two of them armed with guns after another group trailed him from Mbale. He said the names of the suspects were handed to the authorities. He sparked off murmurs from the mourners when he said one of the suspects was among them attending the burial.
“We appeal to the Government to carry out thorough investigations into the matter and ensure the culprits are brought to book,†Chebrot said.
District chairman Nelson Chelimo said some people in the district had chosen a criminal approach to politics and decided to eliminate Onyait.
He said the late Onyait was a dedicated and principled servant who could not be compromised. Ends
