NATHAN Wasolo made four tries, two conversions and a penalty to guide Underwriters Kobs to a 47-6 victory over Rhino in the quarterfinals of the Bell Uganda Cup at Kampala Club Saturday.
The win guaranteed Kobs a slot in the semifinals that will also have Makerere Impis, Black Pirates and defending champions MTN Heathens next month.
It was a dominant display from the winners, keeping the ball to the opponents as they scored seven unanswered tries.
Wasolo, also skipper for the side, played telling roles as he stormed the opponents’ defence with limited resistance to pile four winning tries converting two of them and scoring a penalty.
Wingers Michael Wandera and Tony Lugya scored two and one try respectively.
Kobs have been struggling this season, but this performance puts them back among the cup favourites.
At Kampala Club, Athiyo Mohammed put the Black Pirates in front with two tries that were converted by Steven Ojambo to ensure a 22-17 win over struggling Buffaloes.
Pirates however had it rough as the wounded Buffaloes kept in their half for a spell of time.
“We almost had them for a meal but we failed in our game plan,” said skipper Okweda after the match.
In the other games, MTN Heathens and Makerere Hima Impis matched to the semifinals without difficulty after their opponents Mongers and Sailors failed to turn up.Ends
