AGRICULTURE state minister Kibirige Sebunya’s family was enumerated on the fourth day of the recently concluded census exercise. But the minister was not at home at the time, The New Vision has learnt.

Richard Komakech writes that members of the minister’s family at Kawanda Agricultural Research Institute were counted and his house marked KC/39.

When The New Vision visited the home, a relative only identified as Robert said, “The minister was not around on that day, but the enumerators came and we were enumerated,” he said

“They came here on a Sunday,” Robert said, justifying the minister’s argument that he had for three days waited for the enumerators in vain. The minister’s wife was also not at home. A source said she is working outside the country.

The one-week national census exercise kicked off on Friday, September 13 and concluded on September 19. A few days were granted after the official closure, to enable those who had missed the exercise to be counted.

The minister is challenging the census exercise, saying he was not counted. But Wakiso district boss Ian Kyeyune said he was at the minister’s home with the enumerators.
