URA-Lyantonde was the only surviving club among the promoted five last season. Despite a change of the name to URA FC, coach Jackson Mayanja believes the club’s goal of being among the top clubs in the country still exists.
“I am not God to tell you how we will perform, but I am sure that we are going to produce a great team,” says the former national captain, who surprised everyone when URA finished fourth.
Last season, URA only lost four matches — against the three top contenders Villa (two) and to Express and KCC.
Although ‘Jackso’ knows little at the moment including the final squad, the self-belief in him is enough to scare his rivals.
“Our goal last year was to stay in the league. This year, we will be under-studying other clubs and within a few years we will have gained the confidence to win the title.”
Hakim Mulinde will team up with Ronald Kamoga and Godfrey Ssali in midfield.
With Hood Kawesa and Deo Serwadda in defence, Hamisi Katagenda and David Kiwanuka at the front, Mayanja’s mission could well be achieved.Ends
