THE Minister of state for education in-charge of Primary education, Namirembe Bitamazire, has warned contractors of classrooms blocks under the School Facilitation Grant against shoddy work, reports Nicholas Kajoba.
Bitamazire was commissioning eight primary schools constructed by World Vision, Uganda, in Kimenyedde and Kasawo sub-counties, Mukono district.
Word Vision contributed sh232m while sh36m was raised by the community.
Bitamazire said most contractors put up shoddy work under the SFG, yet they take a lot of funds from the government.
“I warn all contractors under the SFG to halt putting up shoddy work because these classrooms are occupied by our children,” she said.
Bitamazire advised parents to support the Universal Primary Education programme in order to promote the education sector.
She said the Government was committed to improving the livelihoods of teachers through prompt payments of their salaries.
She said all teachers’ salaries were paid by 28th of each months so there is no delay for their dues.
Bitamazire applauded World vision for setting up schools in the country saying, it is a good gesture towards the education sector. Ends
