THE Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels have gone on rampage, beating up the residents of Acholi sub-region.

The rebels also vowed to kill the residents if they attempted to harvest their foodstuffs in the gardens.

Local security sources said the rebels beat up the residents of Olam-Nyungo, Olinga and Otoro-Kome villages in Lapala parish and Pogo parishes where they had gone to harvest foodstuffs.

Some youths were reportedly tortured unconscious when the rebels found them (civilians) harvesting foodstuffs in their gardens in Pabbo sub-county, about 25 miles from Kilak county on the Gulu-Juba road, west of Gulu.

Lt. Paddy Ankunda, army spokesman in the north said, “Yes we have received the information and we have deployed our forces to handle the situation.”
