CITY High School stormed the final of the inaugural girls cricket tournament after beating Kings College Budo by 23 runs at Kyambogo oval yesterday.

The win ensured City High finish the five preliminary matches unbeaten and take on either Gayaza High or Ndejje SS in the final at Lugogo at 2pm today.

The two teams were tied with nine points each yesterday and up to 8.30pm, UCA tournament organisers were locked up at Lugogo calculating the net run rate to break the tie.

National players Christine Aryemo and Frankline Najumba were the main architects in City High’s victory, scoring 18 and 19 runs respectively as they set a score of 84/9 in 25 overs at Kyambogo oval.
Budo was restricted to 61/8.

Earlier, City High beat Gayaza by six wickets, Kololo SS by 21 runs and Ndejje SS by seven wickets.
Other teams that found City High a hard nut to crack were Makerere College and Budo.

“It has been a nice tournament for us and reaching this far, we can not afford to loose the trophy, I have no doubt we shall win the final,” City High skipper Aryemo said.

The final match will climax the World Health Organisation, NIC and SHUMUK enterprises sponsored event that attracted six schools.

The best participants will also represent the country in the ICC East Africa tournament scheduled for December 13-22 in Nairobi.
