KAMPALA City Council Football Club has in a bid to ensure maximum attendance at Saturday’s general assembly extended registration of club members.

Club Public Relations Officer Herbert Semakula said yesterday that the registration initially scheduled to end on December 7, will now close on the day of the assembly.

Semakula said 360 members have so far registered and got membership cards. This is all in preparation of the club polls, whose date will be determined by the assembly.

Kampala Mayor John Ssebana Kizito set the assembly date after fans’ pressure. The Lugogo team’s fans not only want a new leadership, but are also advocating for major constitutional changes.

Among the issues they are advocating for is more participation in affairs of what they view as a dictatorial set up.

A faction of the club’s fans threatened to secede, a move that was only reconsidered after the Mayor called for an assembly.

The club has Deputy Town Clerk James Ssegane as its Chairman since 1998.
