THE chairman of Aringa Elders Association, Alahai Abubaker Gabu, has appealed to Gen. Salim Saleh not to discriminate against former UNRF II rebel soldiers.

He also requested government to treat the former rebels like the rest of the UPDF force.

Gabu was speaking at the signing of the peace agreement between the government and the UNRF II at Yumbe Boma Ground recently. He said the success of the peace process was through Saleh’s effort.

“All the guns are here. Lt. Gen. Salim Saleh should look after this army (UNRF II) being handed over to the government. You must treat them equally like the other UPDF. They should not be discriminated or mistreated,” he said.

“We do not want war here again. What is remaining now is to develop Yumbe district,” he added.

Gabu appealed to President Yoweri Museveni to continue leading the country without discriminating any region.

Another elder from Aringa, Sadat Mboli, asked the Government to protect the former rebels.
