Voters Miss Polls Again

VOTERS in 12 electoral areas in Kampala and five municipalities yesterday missed voting for the direct and women councillors in the municipal and city divisions polls.

By John Kakande VOTERS in 12 electoral areas in Kampala and five municipalities yesterday missed voting for the direct and women councillors in the municipal and city divisions polls.The Electoral Commission deputy chairperson, Mrs. Flora Nkurukenda, on the eve of the elections announced the postponement of the voting for the direct and women councillors in the 12 electoral areas (parishes and wards) in Kampala, Masaka, Jinja, Fort Portal, Entebbe and Gulu Municipality.Nkurukenda gave no reasons for the postponement, but the New Vision learnt that it was due to the defective ballot papers.The commission also postponed voting for the direct and woman councillors in Kamwokya II B parish in Kampala Central Division.There was also no voting for the direct and woman councillors at Katwe II in Makindye Division.In Rubaga Division, there was no voting for women councillors at all polling stations. at Lubya, Kasubi 1 and in Kawempe Division there was no voting for women councillors.Ends
