By Davis WeddiTHERE is a group of robbers on the loose in Old Kampala and Rubaga Division, the Kampala-extra Police chief, Ahmed Wafuba, said yesterday.“They travel on foot, are very violent. They have so far murdered three residents and yet they are petty robbers,” Wafuba said.“They seemed to have gained access to firearms and are impulsive. We can assume that they take drugs to enhance false courage and beat nervousness for fear of arrest,” he said.He described the thugs as pairs who walk mostly at night. They operate in Nakulabye, Kasubi and Namungoona suburbs where they easily mix with unsuspecting people. Wafuba cautioned residents to take maximum care and call the Police in case of any suspicion. He said the Police had stepped up vigilance as they hunt for the men who reportedly murdered two Tanzanians and a Kampala City Council employee, identified as Frank Lwanga, a week ago.In a separate development, the Police are hunting for four men who on Saturday reportedly grabbed a vehicle from its owner in Ntinda. The men were reportedly armed with two submachine guns.A fortnight ago, The New Vision reported that the Police had stepped up surveillance in Bukoto and Ntinda due to increased reports of robbery.Ends
