Defilement rate high

THE rate of crime in the mid-western region remained high last year, with defilement topping with 334 cases, a report released by the Police has said.

Kabarole and Kamwenge registered 28 and 17 respectively.There were 88 cases of aggravated robbery, with Kabarole, Kyenjojo and Kamwenge registering 48, 18 and 18 respectively.The whole region registered five cases of treason. The Regional Police Commander, Ali Muyirima, attributed this to the Government amnesty under which many former ADF insurgents were pardoned.
