By Norman Katende SPONSORS and FUFA have given the league kick-off a go ahead, ending speculation that a postponement was being considered.Despite the absence of official uniforms from sponsors, balls, league rules, and doubts about stadia that are below par, it was announced yesterday that the league will kick off Saturday with KCC hosting Police at Nakivubo stadium.“We have agreed with the sponsors. Clubs can use their uniforms as long as they do not have a logo of a direct competitor,” said FUFA general secretary Haruna Mawanda at the Nile Special press conference.“We are not so poor. We will improvise for the balls as we wait for the sponsors to bring in their package.”On the issue of referees who have not had fresh tests, he said only those who passed the Cooper Test four months ago will handle the kick-off match.NFLC general secretary Justus Mugisha said they will release the 2002 league rules after a meeting between NFLC, FUFA and SDCA at Nakivubo tomorrow.“We have to explain to everyone why some clauses were added or removed,” said Mugisha. The first giant clash will be on March 30 when Express host SC Villa while KCC host Villa on May 4.ends
