FORMER Kampala mayoral candidates Wasswa Ziritwawula and mayor Ssebaana Kizito yesterday resumed work at their offices, reports Catherine Ntabadde.

FORMER Kampala mayoral candidates Wasswa Ziritwawula and mayor Ssebaana Kizito yesterday resumed work at their offices, reports Catherine Ntabadde.Ziritwawula, who was defeated by Ssebaana, resumed work as Central Division chairman. “The election is now behind me. I have resumed work as chairman for Central Division until my term expires,” Ziritwawula said yesterday. Ssebaana trounced Ziritwawula in all the five divisions of Kampala with a margin of 105,501 votes.By 1:00pm, Ssebaana was in office and received several congratulatory messages from visitors. “I had put work aside. Now I’m back and continuing with what I had started on. I will serve my people as I promised,” the beaming mayor-elect said.Both Ziritwawula and Ssebaana’s terms of office end in April. Ziritwawula took leave to participate in the mayoral elections while Dickson Kamukama, a district councillor for Old Kampala, acted as chairman.Ziritwawula has pledged to work with Ssebaana during his term of office. “In this remaining period, I will work closely with the mayor and also serve my people of the division,” he said.Ends
