A UPDF officer has assured residents of Kapedo in Kotido that soldiers who killed civilians in the sub-county on February 28 will be prosecuted “without fear or favour.”

By James Odong A UPDF officer has assured residents of Kapedo in Kotido that soldiers who killed civilians in the sub-county on February 28 will be prosecuted “without fear or favour.”The Commanding Officer 405th Brigade, Lt. Col. Patrick Kiyingi, made the announcement at a reconciliation meeting he held with residents at the sub-county recently.This followed an incident in which soldiers from the 75th UPDF Battalion are alleged to have killed three people, raped a pregnant woman who had a miscarriage.Lokii Andrew, Kodet Alinga and Ngoyai Arikori were killed when soldiers reportedly raided Kapedo trading centre in search of illegal guns. “I am sorry for what happened here in February but I can assure you that we have already arrested eight of the suspects including the LCI chairman of the area,” Kiyingi said adding, “The suspects have been forwarded to the 3rd Division in Moroto for prosecution and punishment.”
