BY RONNIE KINTUTOM Tikolo, the International Cricket Council (ICC) development officer for East Africa, has said Uganda has put in place all that is required to gain One Day International (ODI) status in the near future. The Kenyan based officer was here with the visiting Swamipaba CC that played three matches against Ugandan select sides during the Easter weekend.Kenya already has the status and it is longing to be recognised by the international governing body (ICC) as a Test playing nation. Uganda are currently an associate member, and one day status gives them a chance to play one-day games against test playing nations South Africa, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, NewZealand, Australia, India and Pakistan. It also gives them an automatic place in the World Cup.“The existing development programmes in Uganda and the introduction of nationwide Mini Cricket Championships, will see Uganda get the ODI status very soon,” Tikolo said.ends
