SIR—On April 9, you published an article entitled “money changers oppose cops”. I have been a victim of these money changers at Busia boarder and it is a very wrong assumption that only foreigners are victims of these thieves. I strongly support that the money changers be given not only uniform but also numbers for tax purposes. These money changers earn a lot of tax-free income and government should impose a tax on them since they too as individuals operate forex bureaus like any other licensed bureaus. The only limit is that they can only change limited currencies. The argument that they will trace the thieves themselves is not good enough. It should not only be the Police who should be interested in these money changers but URA as well. URA should, through the Minister of Finance introduce a new tax for money changers operating all over Uganda. David BizimanaKampalaends
