By John KakandeCOLONEL Dr Kizza Besigye has denied accusations that he has linked up with the notorious Joseph Kony or any other rebel group to fight the Government.Besigye once again urged President Yoweri Museveni to “embark on credible means to undertake reforms necessary to bring the country back to a democratic path.” He said political manipulation, election rigging, state-inspired violence and harassment “have been tried before with disastrous results.”“Let me categorically state that I have not sent anybody by any description to link up with Kony, or any other group, or in any other way engage in crime and terror activities in any part of Uganda,” Besigye said in a statement issued yesterday.“I am, however, not at all surprised by Museveni’s accusations,” he said, adding that one of the reasons for the accusations was to “divert attention of the parliamentary committee from their primary task of inquiry into election violence.”He said Museveni wanted to “criminalise the people and organisations opposed to his government.”
