By Nathan EtenguJie Karimojong warriors on Monday night raided over 800 head of cattle from Bokora county in Moroto district. The raid comes barely a day after the UPDF recovered another 1,300 head of cattle earlier raided by the Jie from the Bokora on April 30.The Monday night raids took place in Lorengechora and Iriiri sub-counties. The raided cattle were recovered by the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) in a fierce battle that left many Jie warriors either dead or injured. Some of the Bokora injured during the raid were admitted to Matany Catholic Mission Hospital in Moroto district.Sources said the Jie fought a fierce battle with the Bokora before the UPDF came to the aid of the Bokora. The UPDF 3rd Division operations commander, Lt. Col. John Baptist Mulindwa, said 854 head of cattle were recovered by the UPDF infantry and armoured battalion in Karamoja. He said he deployed troops in Bokora after suspecting the Jie, who had lost cattle they had raided from Bokora, would plan another attack.Ends
