About 80% of the meat consumed in Mbale town is not inspected by meat inspectors and poses a threat to meat consumers, health officials have said.

The supervisor of Mbale Abattoir Ali Nabudere said uninspected meat does not go through the abattoir as meat dealers try to dodge the taxes imposed on them by the abattoir.Officials suspect that uninspected meat comes from stolen cows.Ends
