THE Government yesterday signed a US$23m (about sh54b) agreement with two construction firms to rehabilitate roads under the Central Uganda Road Maintenance and Upgrading Project, writes Geoffrey Kamali.

THE Government yesterday signed a US$23m (about sh54b) agreement with two construction firms to rehabilitate roads under the Central Uganda Road Maintenance and Upgrading Project, writes Geoffrey Kamali.The Permanent Secretary in the works ministry, Charles Muganza, signed on behalf of the Government, while officials from Federici-Stirling and Spencon Services signed for their respective companies.The project involves re-sealing 64.5kms of selected roads in Kampala and Wakiso districts and re-gravelling of 175kms of selected roads in Mpigi, Wakiso, Kampala and Luweero districts. The project will be implemented by the Road Agency Formation Unit, under the Ministry of Works, Housing and Communications.Ends
