Obote Sister Detained

SEMMY Onama, a sister to former President Milton Obote, was yesterday detained in the Buganda Road Court cells for a few hours after two of her sureties withdrew from her case.

By Hillary KiiryaSEMMY Onama, a sister to former President Milton Obote, was yesterday detained in the Buganda Road Court cells for a few hours after two of her sureties withdrew from her case.Onama, widow to former Obote I regime defence minister Felix Onama, is charged with issuing a bounced cheque of sh11m to the state minister for water, Mrs. Maria Mutagamba.But two of her sureties wrote to court declaring they had withdrawn from the case due to “unbecoming behaviour” of the accused. The sureties were Patrick Owora, the managing director of Sunrise Clearing and Forwarding Company Ltd and John Walter Ochieng, a receptionist at Hotel International 2000.Ends
