By Grace Matsiko FORTY-three suspects are being held by the Joint Security Team in connection with five separate murders in Kampala city.The overall commander of “Operation Wembley,” Col. Elly Kayanja, said in a report to a parliamentary committee on defence and internal affairs on Monday that five suspects, including two UPDF soldiers, were arrested. The soldiers are said to have masterminded piracy on Lake Victoria in which one person was killed.The security operation was flagged off by President Yoweri Museveni on June 25, to stop crime in the city. The Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI), Internal Security Organisation (ISO), External Security operation (ESO), the Police and cadres are part of the operation.Kayanja (pictured), the deputy director of ISO, said 10 suspects were implicated in the murder of James Kaggwa Ssemwezi.“Eight suspected killers of Lillian Sonko of Rubaga have been arrested and nine of Mrs. Sempa have been apprehended,” Kayanja told the MPs.Ends
