‘No More LC2’

LOCAL Council (LC)2 has ceased to exist after their four-term of office expired, local government minister Jaberi Bidandi Ssali said yesterday.

By Catherine NtabaddeLOCAL Council (LC)2 has ceased to exist after their four-term of office expired, local government minister Jaberi Bidandi Ssali said yesterday.Opening the Sixth Annual General Meeting of Uganda District Council Speakers’ Association (UDICOSA) at City Hall yesterday, Bidandi said LC2 would not be re-instated until the Electoral Commission provides for elections.“As of now there is no LC2 and nobody should pose as LC2. The work of LC2 is now being done by the LC3,” Bidandi said.He warned corrupt local government officials, saying the law would deal with them.“Be politicians in the service of the people who elected you and not to pay back what you spent in the campaigns. If you are in for business, get out and do business,” Bidandi said.He advised the association members to abide by local government laws and respect themselves. He warned against petty politics in the district councils.The meeting was attended by 112 speakers and deputy speakers who form UDICOSA inaugurated last year.Ends
