By James Odong FOUR Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels were killed by the UPDF in Puranga sub-county in Aruu county, Pader district, on Wednesday, the army said.Lt. Paddy Ankunda, the spokesman of the Gulu-based 4th Division, said, “We had contact with them at Puranga yesterday, killing four of them. They burnt down 37 huts and wounded one soldier.” He said the wounded soldier, whose identity he declined to disclose, was shot in the shoulder.Ankunda said, “The situation is under control. Kony has crossed back to the Sudan and we shall shell him wherever he will be. We are confident that this insurgency is soon coming to an end.” Meanwhile, a fierce battle was yesterday morning reportedly going on at Aromo sub-county in Lira district between the rebels and the army. Lira Resident District Commissioner Charles Engwau Egou, who was in Kampala yesterday, said, “Remnants of LRA rebels were yesterday thoroughly beaten at Puranga and they ran in disarray. Some crossed to Aromo. But there is no cause for alarm. The army is monitoring the situation.”Ends
