Kanungu district, infamous for the 2000 doomsday cult massacre, has been struck by horror again.
A jilted man on Thursday night pushed five members of his family into a grass-thatched house and set it ablaze, burning them to death.
The LC4 chairman, Ayubu Bari, said the incident which left residents in shock occurred in Kakoni village, Nyarugando Parish, Kambuga.
â€œJackson Tibamanya alias Magamaga, a retired soldier, first hacked his victims with a panga before hurling them into the burning hut,â€ Bari said.
Bari identified the dead as Peace Bazingura, the assailantâ€™s wife, his mother-in-law Fridah Mutima, 70, Benjamin Orushaba, Gift Namara, 10, and Patience Kyarukundo 12.
