By Mark NamanyaPETROLEUM giants, Total Uganda Limited have now entered into football to help develop the game at grassroot level.TOTAL have bought the naming rights to the Nile Academy for a period of 18 months giving the academy a much higher profile.The academy will now be called the TOTAL Nile Football Academy. The launch is set for next Thursday.According to Ian McNamara, the development will allow the academy maintain and expand on its very exciting project.“It will provide us with many new opportunities, allowing us to take a major step forward in our expansion plans as well as improving the profiles of all sponsors and stakeholders involved.”Part of the triumphant KKL U-13 team in Europe were products of the Nile Academy. r FUFA officials were all smiles as Nile Breweries gave them sh13.75m yesterday for running of the league, adds Daniel Saire. The Beer Company is the sole sponsors of the Nile Special Super League.The company’s PRO David Nsiyona handed over sh8.5m to NFLC, sh4.2m to referees and sh1.05m to Match Commissioners. This was during the weekly Nile Special press conference at Lugogo. The money is the last instalment of sh60m the company committed to the game this year.FUFA delegate Paul Waibale Junior also announced that the Cranes would fly to Egypt for a friendly international match on August 20. The team will host Zambia in another friendly on August 31. Another trip to Libya is yet to be confirmed.
