Makerere University Faculty of Law has recommended the discontinuation of 14 law students for poor academic records.

Another 55 students have been warned for the last time to improve on their academic grades or face a similar fate.

Those who have been dismissed failed to raise the 2.0 Cumulative Grade point average for three consecutive semesters, the Dean Faculty of Law, Prof. Paul Bakibinga, said yesterday.

According to the university’s semester system, students who fail to raise this passmark for three consecutive semesters are discontinued.

A statement from the Dean’s office said, “the following students have been recommended for discontinuation from the LLB programme on grounds of their CGPA being below 2.0 for three consecutive semesters.”

Bakibinga said the recommendation was in line with the university’s academic requirements.

“This is an academic technical procedure which is supposed to be implemented by respective faculties. Whoever fails to raise a CGPA of 2.0 for three consecutive semesters is recommended for expulsion,” he said.
