ANGERED by bickering over posts in the Federation of Motor sport Clubs of Uganda (FMU), vice president (administration) Busingye Rwabwogo and general secretary Corrine Hafner have quit the race. FMU on Thursday suffered a major setback when their president Jack Wavamunno resigned ‘for personal reasons’. FMU is yet to accept Wavamunno’s resignation.
Rwabwogo and Hafner told The New Vision in separate interviews yesterday that they would not seek re-election.
“I cannot work with people who just want to disturb us. They deliberately refuse to understand, wasting a lot of time. The assembly has flopped twice, after spending money on advertising and hiring the hall,” Rwabwogo charged. “Clubs say that they have many members, why don’t they come for the assembly. I do not want to do the same thing all the time.”
Hafner said that the environment was not conducive for her to serve another term.
“I want to work with people who run the sport professionally, people are just jealousy of MOSAC saying we are dominating FMU, let us give them a chance,” Hafner said. “Ever since I became FMUsecretary I have never stepped in a MOSAC meeting.”
