Investigate Bribe Allegations â€" MPs

Press reports said that some MPs cajoled Mukwano Industries and received from them a sh80m bribe to call off a tax evasion probe by a parliamentary committee.
“This matter should be referred to the appropriate committee of the House and if proved guilty, these colleagues should be punished,” Awori said.
The committee referred to is that of rules, privileges and discipline chaired by Oyam north M, Ben Wacha
Awori told the New Vision at Parliament on Tuesday that the allegation was of great concern among the legislators, saying it would send wrong signals to the population about their integrity.
“This is not the first time such an allegation was being labeled against members of parliament.
“In the Sixth Parliament, Nathan Byanyima was accused of taking a bribe of sh5m but investigations proved him innocent. Ends
