KAMPALA — The national NGO forum is to crack down on quack NGOs by the end of the year, the co-ordinator, Warren Nyamugasira, has said. He was speaking at the opening of the African Liaison Programme Initiative (ALIPI) December 2002, at the American Recreational Association in Makindye, yesterday.

Court blames
KAMPALA — Court has blamed Luzira prison authorities for frustrating a case of corruption and abuse of office against a Ministry of Water, Lands and Environment official, Tom Mubbala. Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Frank Othembi said the suspect connived with prison officials to delay his trial.

Student dies
Hoima — A senior four candidate of Makerere Competent Academy died on spot on Tuesday night while over 20 others were admitted to Hoima hospital in critical condition, when their vehicle crashed into a stationary truck. They were returning from Millenium Secondary School after sitting a Geography paper.

Two injured
KAMPALA — Two people were injured and two vehicles destroyed when an oil tanker swerved off the road near the UMA Show Grounds on Tuesday night, at about 7:30pm. Peter Sendagire suffered broken ribs while a builder only identified as Geoffrey, sustained a serious head injury. Both were rushed to Mulago hospital.
