THE East African Community (EAC) will soon have a louder voice to echo its principles of regional integration.
Spokespersons representing companies, the academia and corporate organisations from four countries in the region are meeting in Entebbe to add their weight in support of the policy.
The three-day conference, under the theme, “Public Relations: A Tool for Enhancing Regional Integration,” started yesterday at the Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel.
It is organised by the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU).
PRAU president Ignie Igundura said the conference aimed at forming the East African Public Relations Association which will later become an agency to articulate the EAC ideals.
“We intend to end up in Arusha by 2004 to be entered into the EAC as a professional agency to articulate the EAC ideals,” Igundura said.
“We will encourage persuasion instead of competition which led to the collapse of the first community,” he added. Ends
