World Bank aids Tororo

TORORO – Mella sub-county woman councillor Atyang Adanga has praised the World Bank for supporting AIDS programmes in the district.

Atyang was recently informed by the county health educator, David Okum, that the World Bank had released over sh20m to fight AIDS.

Atyang made the remarks at a closing ceremony of a one-day workshop for women religious leaders at Sea Land ground recently.

MBALE – The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development needs over sh8.4b annually as remuneration to 7,000 adult literacy instructors in the country. The acting national coordinator of the Functional Adult Literacy programme, Kyateka Mondo, said this while closing a two-day workshop for eastern region, at Wash and Willis country Hotel recently. Kyateka said the money had not been provided for in the national budget.
