By John Odyek The Electoral Commission has extended the dates for the updates and registration of voters for two more days from Saturday to Monday. The chairman, Aziz Kasujja, in a press statement on Friday said under section 38 of the Commission Act 3 of 1997, the extension was due to the overwhelming number of people turning up for the update and cleaning of the voters' register. The voter update and registration exercise started on January 11 and was scheduled to end on 20 January ahead of the presidential elections on March 6. President Yoweri Museveni declared Friday a public holiday to enable people register for the presidential elections. Kasujja appealed to parish chiefs, sub-county chiefs and district officials to ensure that registration officers are punctual. He also urged them not to discriminate while performing their duties.
