 Lumala acquires new car for Caltex By Douglas Mazune FORMER national champion Moses Lumala has acquired a more powerful Toyota Celica ST 185 for tomorrow's Caltex Havoline Energy rally. The Caltex sponsored 1999 champion told The New Vision yesterday that his sponsors have helped him acquire the car from reigning national champion Charlie Lubega. "Since I am purchasing the machine locally and Caltex has committed itself to help me Charlie has released it and we shall settle the balance later," a jovial Lumala said. Early this week at the launching of the rally, Caltex general manager James Chillongo said the oil firm would increase Lumala's sponsorship package this season to enable him get a better car. Lumala, who will be flagged off first ahead of the powerful duo of Lubega (Mitsubishi Evo4) and Shell sponsored Chipper Adams (Evo5) said he is now capable of containing the Mitsubishi challenge. "I am very grateful to my sponsors, I will fly the Caltex flag strongly–– I can now compete at the same level with the strong men behind me," Lumala said. "The new car is lighter but I will get used to it as the rally progresses." Scrutineering will be done today at Caltex fuel station, Nsambya on Gaba road. The rally starts with a super special stage at Kaazi tomorrow. Ends.
