By Ebenezer T. Bifubyeka MBARARA Chairman LC V, Fred Ibabaza Kamugira has donated 65 Crest Water Tanks worth sh113.2m to 65 primary schools in Mbarara district. Presiding over the hand over ceremony at district water Development offices, Booma in Mbarara town, Kamugira said every primary school is to get one water tank to help improve sanitary conditions. Each tank cost sh1,741,800m. "The funds used to purchase the water tanks were part of the sh1.4bn earmarked for the district for the development of water and sanitation as part of the poverty alleviation fund," he said. Addressing chairmen of school committees recently, Kamugira called for cooperation between the chairmen and primary schools heads to ensure the good health of the students. He threatened to withdraw 20 tanks from schools whose managerial bodies had failed to cooperate in installing the water tanks. But he didn't mention the ill-fated schools. Mr. Augustine A. Kagutiya, the Assistant CAO, Mbarara, in charge of water, environment and sanitation said there was a big problem between school committees and headteachers. He noted that they are always conflicting over managerial powers. The function was attended by Mr. Steven Rwakuma, the Mbarara defence secretary, Mrs Edrida Musinguzi, the community development officer and other district officials. Ends
