By Emmy Allio And Agencies PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni and the new Congolese leader, Major General Joseph Kabila, are likely to meet in the Zambian capital, Lusaka, this Friday for a one-day peace summit. The talks will centre on the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) which has sucked in many foreign armies fighting for Kabila and the rebels fighting his government. The talks, initially set for Tuesday, were postponed to Friday because the new date was suitable for all parties concerned, the South African Press Agency (SAPA) said, quoting foreign affairs spokesman Ronnie Mamoepa. State House sources in Kampala said yesterday that Museveni, now busy with the presidential campaigns for the election set for March 7, would attend the summit. It will be the first time Kabila, 29, is meeting Museveni since the General's father, Laurent Kabila, was assassinated in Kinshasa last month. Hope Kivengere, Museveni's press secretary, said they had not yet received formal communication but added, "I know the President will not fail to attend." The summit was requested for by the South African government in an attempt to bring together leaders of Angola, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Rwanda all of which are involved in the DR Congo war. Ends
