Diocese Donates 60 Oxen

THE Anglican diocese of northern Uganda has donated 90 heifers and 60 oxen to Gulu residents for income generation, reports Denis Ocwich. The diocesan bishop, the Rt. Rev. Nelson Onono Onweng, said the cattle were part of an on-going loan scheme funded by Heifer International and the Church of Uganda department of planning, development and rehabilitation. "This is one of the activities for peace building and strengthening food security among the suffering people. It is dangerous for people to depend on World Food Programme all the time," Onono said recently. He said the traumatised Gulu residents needed more capital loans, farm tools and seeds for farming.
