MTN boosts lady golfers

MTN has injected sh3.9m in this year's edition of the Uganda Golf Club (UGC) Lady captain prize tournament that tees off at Kitante course this morning.

By Douglas Mazune MTN has injected sh3.9m in this year's edition of the Uganda Golf Club (UGC) Lady captain prize tournament that tees off at Kitante course this morning. MTN sales manager Winnie Lawoko handed over the sponsorship package to the out going Lady captain Gertrude Acato yesterday Kitante. Lawoko said the sponsorship is in line with MTN's commitment to community participation. "We support several other sports including football which attracts a wide range of people," Lawoko said. "MTN believes in community participation and sport is the only thing that draws all communities." She said: "Ladies sport do not draw a lot of corporate attraction but we have decided to take the lead." Acato said the tournament would be one of the most exciting. "I feel grateful that this year's event has sponsors, it will be a wonderful competition," Acato said. The event is in honour of Acato ahead of the UGC ladies section elections later this month. The 18-holes tournament is co-sponsored by Nile Breweries under its Club Pilsener brand. Ends
