By Vision Reporters THE State yesterday withdrew charges of murdering Prince Charles Happy Kijanangoma against Ernest Nkoba, the manager of Radio Toro. Senior Principle State Attorney Simon Byabakama Mugenyi told Justice John Bosco Katutsi that the Director of Public Prosecutions was no longer interested in prosecuting Nkoba. He was freed by the court. Nkoba had been charged with five others, including former Toro premier John Katuramu, with the murder of Kijanangoma. Others are Alex Twinomigisha, Bob Weswala, Patrick Kwezi and Jimmy Okumu Rombo. It had been claimed Nkoba was sent by Katuramu to withdraw sh300,000, which was part payment to the assailants. In the same court, Twinomugisha yesterday said he was tortured before he made a statement to the Police on October 14, 1999, in which he "admitted" murdering Kijanangoma and three Makerere University students. The court had to conduct a trial within a trial, to establish the truthfulness of his allegation. Ends
